In-Character Information
Name: Flint (haha yes another Flint)
Game/Series: Mother 3
Age & Teaching Position: 41, general maintenance (he’s a REPAIRMAN MAN man man man)
Living Arrangements: One of the staff dorms. It’s pretty sparsely decorated save for some family photos and the occasional vase full of sunflowers.
Personality: Flint speaks softly and carries a big stick (literally). He’s stoic, silent and broods a lot. However, despite his aloofness, there is a side to Flint that is loving and fiercely protective. He doesn’t grow close to many people, but those he does will have a faithful protector on their side for life. There is a bit of a downside to keeping all of his emotions locked inside, though- Flint has a temper. If he feels wronged or betrayed, he’ll lash out violently. Fortunately, it takes a lot to piss off Flint, and it’s very rare for him to completely lose it.

Having lived his whole life on a farm in a small town, relocating to a huge city has given Flint a bit of culture shock. He’s not at all good with technology, especially computers, so blogging is a new and awkward experience for him.

Backstory: Flint once lived happily in the town of Tazmily with his beloved wife, Hinawa; his sons, Lucas and Claus; and their dog, Boney. Flint may have not shown it often, but he loved his family dearly- Hinawa was his life and the twins were his greatest pride. However, tragedy struck the family when Hinawa was killed in an accident. Losing her nearly drove Flint mad- he brutally attacked the neighbors who gave him the unfortunate news, and he was thrown in the town jail to prevent him from being a threat to anyone else. Flint was released after he regained (most) of his senses, but by then he had missed his dear wife’s funeral and his last chance to say goodbye. He has never really gotten over the loss, and his reputation in Tazmily and relationship with his sons has suffered as a result.

Flint spent the years after Hinawa’s death listless and lost. He spent much of his time wandering in the mountains surrounding Tazmily, usually returning with armfuls of flowers that he would leave at his wife’s grave. He kept up with his work as a rancher, but only because it was one of the few constants that remained in his life. He didn’t even really notice when Claus enlisted in the Pig Mask Army or when Lucas left to attend school.

Shortly after Lucas left, the family home fell victim to the Pig King’s wrath. The barn that was attached to the house was totally destroyed by the Thunder Tower while Flint and Boney were out tending to the sheep. The house was saved, but with the barn gone, Flint saw no reason to keep the sheep any longer. There wasn’t much left for him in Tazmily- his sons were grown and gone, the house was empty, and now his livelihood had taken a devastating blow. He decided to sell the sheep and pack up what little belongings he still had, and then he made his way to Final Destination City in search of work (but not without visiting his wife’s grave one last time). He had long since lost track of Claus, but a letter from Lucas pointed him in the direction of Sumabura, and there he got a job as a repairman.

Flint’s job is to essentially keep the school in working order. He makes structural repairs in addition to other odd jobs, and he can help out Chibi Robo with custodian duties. Pretty much the only things he doesn’t do are computer repair and electrical work.

Anything Else?: Flint is bringing Boney with him, but he’ll be more in the background than a separate character. He’ll be kind of like Flint’s Rope Snake. Flint can cook fairly well and also plays a mean saxophone for some inexplicable reason.

Also Flint is an awesome manly cowboy, even if he is a bad father.

In-Character Example Post:
I’m not good at this internet thing. I don’t like computers. I don’t even see why a handyman needs a computer, but they insisted on giving me one. I guess I shouldn’t complain, they’re also giving me a job and a place to live.

I never thought I’d end up in a city.

Can’t say I had much choice, though. I couldn’t afford to rebuild the barn, and Alec needed the house more than I did, so there wasn’t anything left for me in Tazmily.

Except for her.

But here… here I have my sons. Can you believe that? Both of my boys, together at this school. I knew Lucas was here, but Claus too? Something’s brought us together again. Well… almost.

I should check and see if there are any flower shops in town.

Ugh. It took me an hour to type this out. I hate computers.
